“A mixture of old and new” was how my client wished to redesign her living room. We kept the rug, and reupholstered a few sentimental pieces, repainting the walls, and adding more lighting, a new coffee table, window treatments and accessories.
The result: A refreshed look with a familiar feel.
When creating a lighting design for a living room, it is important to pay close attention to the ambience as well as to the
functional aspects of the lighting design. I will often layer a combination of different lighting sources placed at varying heights and directions, which provide flexibility via multiple switches and dimmers. An effective lighting design relates to the room layout,
architectural features, color scheme and the type of activities the room is used for.
